How Two Give Day 5

Andable is an online marketplace where independent designers sell their wares. From clothing to collectables, not only do they have some serious cool stuff for sale, the Andable community helps people living in poverty by giving them access to basic financial services like loans. Each time you make a purchase, you'll be supporting an indie designer, and 10% of the money will help fund a loan, for example to be given to a young mother who owns a small business in the Philippines  It may be too late to buy a present in time for christmas, but if you're a late giver or you're feeling the need to indulge a little for yourself, jump online and check it out - we're currently awaiting these awesome pictures of Paris!

The Very Best of Paris (Recommendations by HTL)

After so much time spent combing through blogs, asking people for recommendations, and walking the streets to find the best places to eat, drink, and shop in Paris, I thought I would pass on my knowledge with a final Paris post of my favourites and absolute must-visits if you're every in town. I have a million things I could add here but thought I’d keep it to top fives (trying to cut down was a serious struggle), feel free to email us if you want the whole list!

Best places to eat in Paris
Rose Bakery 30 Rue Debelleyme, 3rdOne of the coolest cafes in Paris, the best quiche I’ve ever had in my life, delicious salads and other counter foods, and they make what has been declared the best omelette in Paris.
Marcel 1 Villa Leandre, 18thBritish inspired really cute café near Montmartre, everything on the menu is to die for. Their porridge is life changing.
L’as Du Falafel 34 Rue des Rosiers, 4thTheir world-famous falafel is a must, and also recently discovered their schnitzel is equally delicious.
Le Square Trousseau 1 Rue Antoine Vollon, 12thOur favourite Friday night French meal, this brasserie makes incredible traditional French foods, and even has a Pavlova on the menu which we cannot stop talking about.
Takara 14 Rue Moliere, 1st, I didn’t think I’d ever find myself recommending Japanese food in Paris but this is one of the best Japanese places I’ve ever eaten at. Ever.

Best places to drink in Paris (coffee, obviously)
Kookaboora 16 Rue des Martyrs, 9thAussie style coffee in a cute little café – like a taste of Melbourne in Paris.
La Cafeoteque 52 Rue de l’Hotel de ville, 4th, They have a huge variety of coffee beans from all around the world, but don't worry they'll also answer to just 'latte'.
10 Belles 10 Rue de la Granges aux Belles, 10thAnother cute little Aussie place that’s only just opened, great coffee and good lunch spot too.
Merce and the Muse 1bis Rue Charles-Francois Dupuis, 3rdA quaint Brooklyn-style coffee shop that seriously knows their coffee, and also do great brunch platters and salad plates.
Coutume 47 Rue de Babylone, 7th, I’d give the food a miss but their coffee is up there with the best.

Best places to shop in Paris (all have men's and women's fashion except for Manoush)
Bubblewood  4 Rue Elzevir, 3rdIn a city where people prefer to stick to a colour palette of black and grey, this store is a refreshing find with cool and colourful fashion, and really reasonabe pricing.
Manoush 75 Rue Vieille du Temple, 3rdTheir store kind of feels like a clown exploded - in an amazing way.
Kilo Shop 69-71 Rue de la Verrerie, 4thBuy vintage by weight – I picked up an awesome 70's top for only 3 euros!
RA, 14 Rue de la Corderie, 3rd, Walking in here you’ll feel like you stepped into Lady Gaga’s closet - seriously cool and over-the-top pieces.
Kokon to Zai  48 Rue Tiquetonne, 2ndAnother shop where everything is crazy and out there (sensing a theme here?) and their pieces have a very Japanese feel.

And bonus recommendation which I had to add in because it was one of the highlights of Paris...if you want to learn how to make a mean croissant (or macaron or eclair), go to a French cooking class at La Cuisine Paris. Classes are in English and I'm planning on taking everything I learnt back to Australia so I can still eat a real Parisian pastry whenever I get the urge (which at the moment is daily). Book a few weeks in advance.

Au Revoir Paris

After 5 months spent in my favourite city in the world (or at least one of my top 3!), it's finally time to come home. Despite my hardest efforts to convince myself that I want to be leaving, I've failed to come up with a single thing that I don't like about being here...well aside from the fact that every time I spend more than 2 minutes outside my whole body freezes and I declare that I must be getting pneumonia - although this is likely due to the fact that I choose fashion over warmth every time. So it's with a lot of grief and a knew knowledge of how to ship your entire wardrobe half way across the world that I say: Au revoir Paris. See you soon J!

Breaking and Entering

At the risk of becoming one of those idiots who does something illegal and posts it on the internet, here is a picture of the time we broke into...well I'm not really sure what it was exactly but there was definitely some sort of 'do not enter' sign. There's not much I won't do these days for a good style snap. I'm running seriously low on winter outfits but luckily had two amazing pieces I hadn't worn yet - the Sportsgirl pants, and top by new fave label Mad Love!

La Seine River

Today's HTL was originally taken as a test shot for a shoot we were doing, but after turning out to actually be quite a cool photo it was promoted to style snap. As you know I can't say what the actual shoot was for but that will be revealed soon! We chose a bridge over the Seine River for the location to get some great shots of Paris, which just made me more sad that I barely have any time left here...excited to see you but can't believe I have to say goodbye to this magical place!

Afterwards Finally tried out that Thai massage place we discovered...it was amazing and wayyyy nicer than it looked from the outside.

Les Enfants Rouges

In my quest to show Jerome the best of Paris in the one short week he's here we've been hitting up 2-3 cafes daily. Today we visited Les Enfants Rouges Market - it's kind of like Prahran Market but with really cool little cafes everywhere. There was a huge line for this amazing looking Moroccan place so we opted for Japanese breakfast which was delicious. It's been a while since I rocked some double print, so I decided to get back into it with this outfit courtesy of the package you sent me.

Lyon

Jerome and I have come down to Lyon to spend a couple of days with Meme (aka grandma). We decided to head into town for the afternoon, and while on our way to the Metro station we ended up slightly lost and wandered into this incredible secret garden that was complete with an old wooden swing and a chicken coop! Almost found ourselves in trouble when we were discovered by the owners, but played the clueless tourists and pulled out the thick Aussie accents, and we soon had them giving us a tour of the place. Gotta love the Australia card, works every time.

Champs-Elysees

Heard Laduree reopened on the Champs so I headed there today for some of their world-famous macarons... their marshmallow filling is to die for, will have to go back with Jerome when he gets here next week. Have been so excited to show you these flares since I bought them! They're so comfy and have joined the velvets and the laces as a major wardrobe staple. Luckily for you they'll be part of your wardrobe too so very soon.

Cafe Hopping

When Appel wore this jumper the other day I fell in love with it and knew I had to steal it for myself! It also provided some much needed warmth for a winter's day spent cafe-hopping around Paris (we knocked 3 cafes off our must-visit-before-leaving-Paris list). Got a little creative with my lipstick and while it seemed like a good idea at first, after about 10 minutes of wearing it the colours started to rub off on each other. The great news is that this lead to the discovery of a new hybrid lipstick colour which I love and will most definitely be wearing again!

Paris Masters Finals (Go Poland!)

After a week of living and breathing tennis, today it all came to an end with the finals. We decided to pull out the red and white in support of Polish player Jerzy Janowicz. He may have ended up losing, but we had fun spending the day in dress up, and yelling out phrases drawn from Appel's limited Polish vocabulary - pretty sure us screaming "liar" and "god can only help those who help themselves" couldn't have been all that helpful, but we figured he'd be happy to hear something familiar.

Paris Masters Day 5

After 4 days of sitting through hours and hours of tennis in my Paris best, I've finally ditched the beautiful attire in favour of something a little more comfortable. And if we're being totally honest here....okay that is my pyjama top. But who doesn't love a little Disney added to an outfit? Before the night session we decided to go for a wander around the area, and ended up joining in a crowd watching some local kids at a skate park. Taking a break from watching sport to watch sport? I think the Paris air is doing something strange to me...

Paris Masters Day 3

After complaining about our obstructed view 'Category 1' seats, we were excited to get an upgrade for the day to box seats with access to the VIP lounge. No player sightings as yet but we have discovered the player drop off point so someone better tell Tsonga to expect us there soon. Spending all day inside the stadium is making us go a little crazy so we decided to head outdoors between matches and happened to find this beautiful park to eat lunch in. As you can see the ASOS package arrived this morning...so many amazing clothes I can't wait to share!

Q&A Time

We've been doing lots of Q&As lately for other websites and magazines, so this week we thought: why not do our own HTL Q&A? If you have a question for us about absolutely anything - our style, our backgrounds, our personal lives, or even something ridiculous, then ask us! We'll post our 5 favourite questions here with our answers this Friday. We'll even name the askers and post your blog/website address if you have one.

Paris Masters Day 1

Being the crazed Tennis fans that we are, we decided to skip school for the week and bought 7-day tickets to the Paris Tennis Masters. Not one to miss an opportunity to dress up, I opted for checks, florals and my two-toned wedges. Thinking I would totally stand out from a crowd full of people in tracksuits and runners, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself blending in with the tennis-goers in their suits and their heels...and then I had to remind myself, this isn't the Aus Open...this is Paris!

Grizzli Cafe

Following an exhausting day of errands and French class, headed to our local drink spot for some wine and a cheese platter. Can't decide whether that's extremely Parisian or extremely touristy of us. Before you comment on how I managed to purchase a beautiful new yellow blazer without telling you about it, let me say this: after officially running out of clothing I've now resorted to stealing items from Appel's wardrobe...it's a good thing I like to wear things oversized.
